Why Fortnite is Taking over the world
Fortnite, the battle royale game by EPIC games is taking over the world by storm. ( pun intended) The game was released in July 2017 but this was only the story mode. The story mode is about 98% of the world being killed by a worldwide storm and now the people have to survive the zombie apocalypse. Now this story mode did not make Fortnite popular. When EPIC games released the free battle royale mode for Fortnite in September 2017 that is when it started to take off. This game competes with another battle royale game called Player unknown battlegrounds ( PUBG) but the leading advantage that Fortnite has is that it is on multiple platforms and it is free. PUBG is only available on PC and in recent months it was ported over to XBOX but that XBOX version is not as good as the PC version. Fortnite works better because it was a game that was designed for consoles, and it can easily be ported over to PC in a way that works. It is very hard to make a good port of a PC game because a PC is a superior device compared to a console. More people play consoles than PC’s so that is another advantage for Fortnite.
Fortnite has become very mainstream and is easily the most talked about game these days, it seems that everyone plays fortnite now, and the ones that are not are missing out on the Fortnite craze. It has become so mainstream that there are meme pages everywhere that you gp on social media, along with people always posting about their wins on Fortnite including myself. Even though the game is still not fully complete yet it feels more complete than say games like call of duty. Every week the developers of Fortnite put out updates for the game and it keeps the game fresh. There is something new to look forward to every week. Just about two weeks ago, more locations for the map came out and the best part about these updates is that they are free. There is also not loot box system, or gambling system like most games. There is microtransactions but they are just cosmetic things like outfits, emotes, and dance moves. It is funny how Fortnite is a free game and yet it is constantly being updated, and the new content is free. Games like Call of Duty are 60 dollars and they still want you to buy 60 dollars worth of dlc, camos, and actual content that impacts the game like guns from loot boxes. This is another reason why Fortnite is taking over the gaming world. The developers actually care about the consumers and they listen to what we say. On the Fortnite Reddit page, developers are active and listening to feedback from the community.
Fortnite is also a very fun game even if you are bad at it. People keep coming back to play because it is fun like I said. A fun aspect of this battle royale game that is not present in others is the building. The building is one of the best things about this game, and it is really cool to see people building huge forts. The best battles in this game for me are the fort battles, where two teams have huge forts and are fighting each other across a long distance, usually with snipers. There are also various modes that you can play in the battle royale mode. There is solo, duo, and squads, and sometimes the developers put in gamemodes like snipers only, silencers only, explosives only etc and these are all really fun. The most hectic gamemode is definitely the squads, especially towards the end of the game. People are constantly dying in squads and the forts are even bigger here since there's more teamwork.
Since a lot of people are playing this game since its so mainstream now there are more noobs in the game which means that it is easier to win. All the people that are new to the game always jump out of the bus as soon as the game starts, and they all die fast since they land in the same places. In less than 2 minutes there are 60 people left in the game. I would have expected the Fortnite game and community to turn cancerous since it is so mainstream now but it is exactly the opposite. The mainstream aspect of the game is making it better, since it is getting so popular, mlg is considering it for e-sports.

And many people are watching it on youtube and twitch. Call of duty youtubers like Ali-a have already converted over to Fortnite because they know that Call of Duty is not the biggest game of our generation anymore. Fortnite is taking over the world and soon it will be the biggest game of our generation.
